There’s something special about photographing a couple at the place where they’ll soon say “I do,” and Julia and Tyler’s engagement session at Milk & Honey Farms in Chapmansboro, Tennessee was exactly that kind of meaningful. The moment I pulled into the property, I was met with peaceful country side, grazing horses, and a wedding venue that had it all.

Julia and Tyler have the kind of love story that feels straight out of a movie, but in the sweetest, least cliché way. They were part of the same college friend group but never actually met. He’d just graduated; she was a freshman. Life carried them in different directions as he moved to France and she transferred schools. But he followed her on Instagram, and she assumed he was one of her brother’s friends. They messaged occasionally, until one day while he was still abroad, they started talking… and then never stopped. That led to 18 months of long-distance between Nashville and France. And somehow, instead of dimming, their connection only grew brighter.

During our session, we wandered all around their venue, which showed off two stunning ceremony locations, bright and beautiful bride and groom prep rooms, and even a kids corner! Milk & Honey Farms already holds so much meaning for them, and photographing their engagement portraits there added another layer.

We also stumbled upon the funniest “small world” moment. Both Julia and Tyler went to Welch College, where my husband went and where my mother-in-law teaches. They had actually taken classes with her! It made the session feel even more personal, like our paths were always meant to cross.

Even though I won’t be photographing their wedding this June (they booked a photographer I genuinely admire — and who happened to be on maternity leave, which is how I got lucky enough to meet them), I’m so grateful I got to be part of this chapter.

Julia and Tyler, you two are a joy. I can’t wait to see you get married right here on this beautiful farm that already feels like the beginning of your forever. Until the next love story, xoxo.
