Printer's Alley + Cumberland Park Engagement Session in Downtown Nashville, TN

This session had everything—city views, a sweet pup named Maverick, a denim jumpsuit I’m still not over, and a race against the sunset thanks to a surprise Titans game.

We started out at Cumberland Park, which always feels like a hidden gem downtown. Maggie and Alex brought Maverick (their very good boy) for the first part of the session, and honestly, he crushed it. So many tail wags and cute moments—it was the perfect way to kick things off. After that, a friend of theirs took over dog-duty, and the three of us headed deeper into the city for the next part of their shoot.

Printer’s Alley was up next, but plot twist: there was a Titans game happening at Nissan Stadium. Parking was a nightmare. We ended up having to park way farther than planned and booked it across downtown, trying to make it before we lost all our light.

By the time we got to Printer’s Alley, it was basically dark—like, almost pitch black. But we rolled with it, and somehow, the photos still turned out so good. There’s something about the way the streetlights and neon hit the brick walls that just works, especially with the two of them looking effortlessly cool.

And then Maggie changed into the cutest denim jumpsuit, and I was obsessed. Just the two of them laughing together in this quiet little corner of the city felt like such a perfect snapshot of who they are.

If you’re planning a downtown engagement session in Nashville, a few quick tips from this one:

• Check the Titans schedule. Trust me.

• Bring someone along if you’re including your dog—makes a huge difference once it’s time for solo shots.

• Don’t stress the light. Even when it’s basically gone, there’s still so much beauty to work with. You’d never know how dark it was from their final photos.

Maggie and Alex were so laid-back and fun through the whole thing, even with the parking stress and fading sun. I already know their wedding day is going to be a blast.
